We know that our customers hire vehicles for many different reasons, and have many different refueling needs. For your convenience, we offer 4 different refueling options:
– Bring Back Full If you bring the vehicle back full, or at the same level as the vehicle was picked up at, there won't be any charge. If there happens to be any missing fuel at the start, and it isn't the same as your rental agreement, please let one of our staff know or take a picture if you are in a hurry.
– Fuel Up Front This option allows you to purchase a full tank of fuel at a lower price per litre than our Pay on Return rates. You pay one flat fee for any amount of fuel, so try to return it as close to empty as you can to get the best value. If the vehicle is returned full, we do not charge you for Fuel Up Front.
– EZ Fuel If you drive for 75 miles (120 km) or less you can pre-pay a flat fee and we will take care of refuelling. If you choose to refuel yourself, please keep the receipt and present it when you return the vehicle.
– Pay On Return If you don’t have the time to refuel and haven’t taken Fuel Up Front, we can do it for you. Please keep in mind that this will incur a small fee. Want some more information?

To hire a car in Norway, you need to be at least 19 years of age and have held a driving licence for at least one year. If you or your additional drivers are under the age of 25, you'll need to pay an extra fee (underage surcharge) per day. Yes. You can pay using Visa and MasterCard debit cards. There are a few exceptions: One credit card and one debit card may be required at the counter for higher-value vehicles. The Maestro card is only accepted in Germany. PREPAID cards are accepted online however they are not accepted at the counter which means a non-PREPAID card must be shown at the rental station (together with the PREPAID card). A PREPAID card can be used to pay for the rental at the end of the vehicle hire. Please refer to our location specific terms and conditions for additional information on payment options. In addition to the standard breakdown assistance included with your rental, our Roadside Assistance Plus (or Premium Roadside Assistance) service covers any non-mechanical issue you may face. Windscreen Protection reduces your windscreen excess to zero which means if there's new, non-negligent damage to the windscreen of the vehicle, you will pay a significantly reduced cost, if any cost at all. Your excess is your financial responsibility, or amount you would pay, in the event of damage or theft occurring to the vehicle. The amount you pay depends on the vehicle you hire, which country you hire it in and whether you choose to reduce the excess by upgrading your level of cover. When you hire a vehicle with us, you'll automatically receive third party, vehicle damage (Collision Damage Waiver) and vehicle theft cover to safeguard you on your journey. If you book on the US website you may find that vehicle damage and vehicle theft cover are not included, as some American credit cards provide insurance for car hire. Third party cover is the basic level you need to hire a vehicle, that's why we always include it. Should you damage another vehicle or passengers and their property, you won't have to pay for repairs or injuries. We understand it can be frustrating when you're surprised with extra costs. That's why we always try to be upfront about what you pay. Your booking typically includes the basic Collision Damage Waiver (vehicle damage cover), basic vehicle theft cover, tax, location charges and, depending on the location car and rate, unlimited mileage. But unless you let us know, it does not include young driver charges, additional driver charges, fuel, upgraded cover, or optional extras such as additional equipment or out-of-hours services. - Careless, reckless or dangerous driving
- Driving or attempting to drive whilst under the influence of drink or drugs
- Using a vehicle uninsured against third party risks

- Been disqualified (or anything similar) in the last 10 years
- If you have 2 or more unspent convictions for offences not listed above, your rental will be refused

It's easy to use a money off or upgrade voucher on your next rental. Simply present the voucher at collection of your next hire car and we'll take care of the rest. Vouchers are valid at all participating rental locations worldwide (listed on the voucher) for a period of 12 months from the date of issue and are pursuant to the terms listed on the vouchers themselves. An ACTO (Avis Company Travel Order) is a special voucher businesses give to staff so they can hire a vehicle with us. Simply show your ACTO, driving licence and company ID when you collect your hire vehicle and we’ll invoice your company directly. These vouchers can’t be used for online bookings.

Ordering cars into groups helps us provide a premium service, because there is never any confusion over the car you are hiring and whether you're eligible to drive it. Sometimes you're only eligible to hire cars from certain groups. For example, in the UK if you hire a car under the age of 25 you can choose from Group A (such as a Hyundai i10), Group B (such as a Ford Fiesta), Group C (such as a Seat Leon), Group E (such as Vauxhall Astra) or Group I (such as VW Golf Auto).
The car groups also help you understand useful information, such as the amount you pay (the excess) if you're involved in an accident, which can vary from group to group.

While we try to provide our service to everyone who books a vehicle, there may be circumstances where we cannot give you a vehicle. Some of these scenarios are below:
- If you did not satisfy the driving licence requirements: A valid driving licence must be provided. An international driving licence or an official English translation, by notary, of the driving licence must be provided if the driving licence was issued in a non-roman alphabet. Additionally, the driver must have held the licence for a minimum of one year, evidence is required to be provided to confirm this minimum duration.
- If you did not satisfy the identification/security check: you must provide the following documents: The payment card used to make the reservation (plus an additional card is required for certain vehicles), a photographic ID issued within the last 10 years, passports, photographic driving licences, national identity cards and government issued certificates are accepted, proof of address, a recent utility bill or bank statement (driving licences are not accepted as proof of address).
- If you had Insufficient funds for the pre-authorisation transaction to be processed
- If you were not within the required age range for the vehicle type
- If you have any unspent driving convictions
- If you did not show up at the rental location to collect the vehicle as per the reservation details
- If you refused to take the vehicle provided and would not accept a replacement vehicle

The Premium Location Fee, which is included in your booking quote, helps to cover the extra operating costs incurred at premium locations such as airports, train stations and city centres. While the Premium Location Fee, also known as the City Supplement or Airport Surcharge, is included in your reservation quote, it is also applied as a percentage to any additional counter products selected at the rental location. For clarity, this is itemised on the rental agreement and invoice. Don't worry, this is not a duplicate charge and the itemised line may include the quoted portion from booking as well as any portion for additional selected items.

You can pay for Fuel Up Front when you collect your hire vehicle. This simply means that you pay for a full tank of fuel upfront, saving you the hassle and time of refuelling before you return. This not only saves time but also money, because we offer a discounted rate compared to our fuel on return rates. If you choose Fuel Up Front but bring your hire vehicle back with a full tank, don’t worry, we won’t charge you for Fuel Up Front. But if you bring it back partly full, unfortunately we can’t provide a refund and you will be charged the full amount as listed on your rental agreement, so try to return the vehicle as close to empty as possible.

As part of the global effort to help curb the spread of Coronavirus, recent government restrictions, etc. have resulted in us closing some of our rental stations. These changes are reflected in our booking channels. In the unlikely event that a rental station closes while booking, you will be contacted and assisted by our team.
To hire a car in Norway, you need to be at least 19 years of age at the moment of collecting the vehicle and have held a driving licence for at least one year. A higher minimum age limit may apply to certain vehicles.
If you or your additional drivers are under the age of 25, you'll need to pay an extra fee per day. The amount depends on where you hire a car, because the law and insurance terms vary between countries, but you can expect it to be around 195 NOK per day per driver. If the location charges a premium fee, it could cost more. The minimum age you can hire a car also varies from country to country. Under the age of 25, you can hire cars from Group A, Group B, Group C, Group E, and Group I for example. Check out our fleet to find further information about specific categories.
There is currently no age maximum, so long as you have had a full, valid, licence for at least 1 year. Check the location specific terms and conditions for the country you are renting for more information on age requirements.

You are welcome to return the vehicle early if you absolutely need to. Please keep in mind however, that if you return early and have prepaid for your rental, there won't be a refund for any unused days. If your child is under the age of 12 or below 135cm, by law you must use an appropriate seat.
